Walter
Kohn’s contributions to science are monumental. They are the corner stones of
modern solid-state physics. In this lecture I will attempt to give an overview
of his seminal ideas, and I will share some memories of his very unique way of
doing science, his personal integrity, and his political and societal
activities.
