Ke Xiao obtained his Bachelor's degree in Condensed Matter Physics from Wuhan University in 2016. He then pursued a PhD in Physics at The University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Xiaodong Cui. During his PhD, he specialized in the optical characterization of 2D semiconductors, employing various micro-optical techniques including polarized photoluminescence (PL), reflection spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, second harmonic generation (SHG), pump-probe methods, and photocurrent measurements (PC), etc. In 2020, Ke Xiao earned his PhD and continued his research as a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Cui’s group. In 2022, he joined Prof. Stuart Parkin’s group at the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics in Halle, where he applied his expertise in optical techniques to study spintronic phenomena, complementing transport measurements.

Main research Interests:

Our research focuses on light-matter interactions in condensed matter physics, with a particular interest in the intrinsic time-reversal symmetry breaking in antiferromagnetic materials currently. Equipped with advanced lab facilities, including a femtosecond laser, OptiCool system, AttoDry system, and scanning near-field optical microscopy (SNOM), we investigate the physical mechanisms at multiple scales. This allows us to perform far-field optical characterization with micrometer resolution and near-field optical characterization with nanometer resolution, complementing transport measurements.
