Infrastructure

Central services, including administration, library, and IT, are the backbone of our Institute. They enable staff to focus on research by managing essential functions like accounting, personnel, and digital infrastructure. The library supports research with extensive e-resources and Open Access initiatives, while the electronic and mechanical workshops provide specialized equipment and technical support for research projects.

The specialized library of the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics covers in general the field of solid state physics and in particular the areas of thin film magnetism, material interfaces, superconductivity, spintronics, semiconductors, photovoltaics, and electron-microscopy, among others.
Staff members of the Computer Services conceive, operate and develop the required IT infrastructure and continually update and adapt it to meet the changing demands of science, always oriented to the state of technology, to economic considerations, as well as to requirements regarding IT security and data protection.
The Administration supports the scientific departments, research groups, and central facilities. It consists of the following groups: accounting, purchasing, personnel management and support of third-party funding.
