The Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP) announced Prof. Stuart Parkin as International Fellow for 2022

The Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP) Fellow International was founded to recognize researchers living outside of Japan who have made remarkable contributions to the progress of applied physics through international activities related to JSAP. Parkin is receiving the JSAP Fellowship from the Japan Society of Applied Physics for his discoveries of Giant Magnetoresistance Effect, Long-Range Exchange Interactions, Giant Tunnel Magnetoresistance Effect, and Contributions to Applied Physics in Japan.

The selection of Prof. Stuart Parkin, Director of the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics Halle, was announced by the President of the Japan Society of Applied Physics, Toshiro Hiramoto. Parkin will be publicly honored at an Awards Ceremony at the JSAP Autumn Meeting on September 20, 2022.

“I am extremely honored to have been selected as a JSAP Fellow International and to join the illustrious company of previous laureates. In my mind the exploration of fundamental science with impact on society via the development of novel technologies is extremely important and this is exactly what the JSAP represents”.

About the JSAP

The Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP) serves as an academic interface between science and engineering and an interactive platform for academia and the industry. JSAP is a "conduit" for the transfer of fundamental concepts to the industry for development and technological applications.

JSAP was established as an official academic society in 1946, and since then, has become a leading academic society in Japan. The society’s interests cover a broad variety of scientific and technological fields, and JSAP continues to explore state-of-the-art and interdisciplinary topics.
